Tower of Song is a duo-- Oliver Swain and Glenna Garramone-- based in Victoria, BC, Canada, who re-imagine and interpret the songs of Leonard Cohen, as well as present original material.  We collaborate with a rotating cast of guest artists.

Video from our concert at Hugh's Room in Toronto

We had some great times during our most recent tour in Ontario this fall, attending and showcasing at the Folk Music Ontario conference in October, and then doing a combo of touring and visiting family and friends for the 10 days that followed.  We had the privilege of being accompanied by Jaron Freeman-Fox at our show at Hugh's Room in Toronto.

It's hard to believe that the countdown is on to begin our next tour in less than 7 weeks!  Another epic journey across this vast country... we will be going as far east as Montreal.  Excited to play in Leonard Cohen's hometown!  Montreal is also where my (Glenna's) father grew up, and where I have extended family still, so I'm looking forward to reconnecting with my Montreal roots.

On tour in Ontario and Quebec, and at Folk Music Ontario Conference

We're excited to be back on the road for the next couple of weeks, bringing our show to some of Ontario and Quebec's finest live folk music venues.  All show details are on our "Shows" page here.  Send your friends and family our way!  Click on the links below to purchase tickets.

Also, we are showcasing in the Folk Music Canada Blue Room at the FMO conference tomorrow night (Saturday, October 18)!

Western Canada CD release tour, and festival season

During our Western Canada CD release tour, we played more than 30 shows over the course of 6 weeks, and across 4 provinces.  You know you're on tour when you start measuring distance in units of Provinces, rather than kilometres.  Check out these links to tour-related press:

We were thrilled with the reception we received across Western Canada, and we are grateful to all the promoters, hosts, fans, and friends who made this tour possible.

Festival Season is upon us, and both members of Tower of Song (Glenna Garramone and Oliver Swain)  have been busy with other projects throughout the summer.  Glenna made her official debut as the new keyboard player in Short Story Long, the band that accompanies spoken word artist Shane Koyczan, with a concert at The Banff Centre last week.  Oliver Swain has been rocking stages with his band Big Machine at Winnipeg Folk Fest, and Vancouver Folk Fest.  Tower of Song will be making a cameo appearance during Oliver Swain's Big Machine sets at the Calgary Folk Fest this weekend, and we'll be playing 2 full sets as Tower of Song at ArtsWells Festival of All Things Art, August 1-3.

In City and In Forest CD Release Tour

We're excited to be launching our debut album, In City and In Forest, co-produced with Juno award winning Joby Baker (of Baker Studios) on April 22, 2014.  We will be touring all over Western Canada starting April 23.  Visit our SHOWS page for details.  You can pre-order an advanced copy of the album here.  Order your copy before our release date, and we'll cover the shipping costs.

We'll be joined by Corbin Keep on cello for our Spring tour.  We had a rehearsal with Corbin yesterday, and at the risk of sounding inarticulate... we just love the sound of the cello.  There really isn't anything else like it.  It is the instrument that sounds the most like a human voice.  Just when we thought our vocal harmonies were sounding really luscious, throw a cello into the mix and-- hazah!  Those are called goose bumps.
